THINGS

I kept placing sheet after sheet on the studio wall and drawing, without pause for thought, using charcoal or a brush laden with black oil paint. Nothing pre-determined, but so much found. 'Things' emerged – they seem isolated, their character tentative and timid. Their restrained nature was revealing.

The exercise proved pivotal - it helped me develop a trust in 'under-thinking' and working through uncertainty towards some kind of resolution – to value intuition and keep going because I would always find.

Oil paint, charcoal on paper.
