Small Obsessions

Chasing new forms I began carbonising organic matter, inking things thickly black to disguise their identity, tying bits together, turning graphite into clay, creating new presences from found matter. I got a little obsessed, enjoying the animal, vegetable, mineral, protean nature of them. They fed my desire to invent, create connections, find mystery and intrigue.

They are of an elemental kind, rock and graphite, clay, fire, minerals, texture and shine, and all decidedly ‘of’ and ‘with’ nature.

Organic matter, black ink, graphite, string, glue.
